Working on my Pathfinder character sheet while I listen to ambient engine noise from the USS Voyager and imagining people far in the future, working on character sheets aboard actual spaceships. 🙃
Ahh, StackOverflow: come for the programming questions, stay for the DnD clarifications (and the Harry Potter miscellanea).
I'm keenly interested in finding new remote work.
I have entry-level skills in like, writing documentation, HTML/CSS, and a little python/javascript/etc. I'm more experienced with tech operations and I'm most experienced doing project coordination - my best job was with Sedazad, an NGO that looks into how countries control their Internet.
I don't have a resume atm because this is unexpected, but if you know anyone looking for a nerd, please pass this on. https://emsenn.net
It might not seem this way, but over the long run and on the whole, the world is getting much better. https://youtu.be/jbkSRLYSojo

Our customer satisfaction surveys needed to be more exciting. Buddy Reno made a very helpful CodePen called "Material Inspired Checkboxes" (https://codepen.io/BuddyLReno/pen/boGRPO) which I extended and added a couple of animations to: https://codepen.io/DawnPaladin/pen/LrLXYK?editors=1100

Sometimes, when friends are struggling, they *can't* ask for help.
Sometimes active engagement is the right thing to do. We need to lift each other up, and to stop letting our culture dissuade us from doing so.
I can't even count how many times in my messed up life when something like this could have had a huge impact. (Right now is one of those times.)

I believe open source communities and the projects they build represent a testbed for developing alternative ways of organizing our society. Problems in software are "easier" to solve than the real world since material takes up almost no space and tools can be replicated infinitely with trivial cost. The ideas and structures that work in open source communities (for a lack of a better word) can then be built on to solve problems less in the realm of software. I'm probably wrong, but who knows.

Two years ago today, I finished a shift at a job I hated, bought myself a slice of birthday cake, and ate it alone.
Today I got a bonus at a job I love, then had the best birthday I can recall with my family and my adoring fiance.
It took a lot of work, a lot of prayer, and a lot of luck, but my life has changed dramatically, and I'm so thankful.
For anyone out there who's in a bad place: take heart, and keep fighting. Sometimes things get better.
I recently jumped into #Destiny2 with my fiance. We're having a great time running around together blowing stuff up and collecting shinies. Bungie's done a great job crafting a world that feels epic.
I made a Firefox theme of a Ghost: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/destiny-ghost/
I was surprised how easy it is to make themes for Firefox. Two colors and an image is all you need - the rest is metadata. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/developers/theme/submit
When it comes to UX design, Windows 95 is a landmark in the history of that field
Windows 95 took millions of dollars, almost 5 years, and plenty of man-hours to create; UX research was turned into a science with meticulous research and strong testing
and it paid off for Microsoft; Windows 95 flew off the shelves

My work got me a mechanical keyboard and I am SO EXCITE
I just want to give a big #thankyou to the people contributing their time and effort into making sure the #fediverse continues forward. Negativity is a really big problem in FOSS and I feel the work you are doing is too valuable to just leave that there.
Thank you, fediverse #developers.
Thank you, fediverse #administrators.
You are doing good work.

We're so lucky to have Mozilla in the browser ecosystem. They're doing some of the most innovative privacy work right now. (And Lin Clark is great at explaining this stuff!)
