I wonder how many programmers write "hello world" to broadcast that they've made something, and how many write it so that a new program can greet the world it's entering into.
Can I get an opinion? I'm thinking of creating a private, curated London-based influencer/trendsetter community, and considering either Mastodon or Slack for that. Is it possible to create a totally-private Mastodon instance these days?

Hey @nolan, think you could change the manifest.json for Toot.cafe so the title isn't just Mastodon? I use the PWA version of this and Mastodon.social and it's kind of hard to tell which is which when navigating through my app drawer when they have the same title!

I was with my wife yesterday morning on a crowded train platform in DC, pushing our baby along in the stroller (painting a picture here, folks) and I turned to her and said "HEY did you know Some Like It Hot was meant to be part I in a trilogy?" and she was like "Whoa, really?" and I said "Yeah, the last installment was gonna be Some Like It In The Pot Nine Days Old" and she shot me a withering look and I've been laughing about it since then, The End.

This is a "m-dash" — it's kinda long! You use it to separate thoughts, kinda like I did just now! It's called that, because it's as wide as the "m" character!
This here is a "n-dash": "–" you use it to separate dates like "2003–14"!
"-" is a hyphen! You use it to separate compound words that come before a noun, like "state-of-the-art waterbuffalo"!
"--" is two hyphens. IF YOU USE THIS YOU ARE A COMPLETE, UTTER FOOL.
