It's 6 am somewhere :)

kelvin??? absolute unit, that one
April Fool’s idea for a food delivery app: on the map, instead of moving the food marker to the house, move the house marker until it reaches the restaurant. Let your customers panic for a little bit until the food arrives at their door.
Cleaning your space is self care, too.
Ways to mess with your brain: Spanish radio in the background while learning Portuguese on Duolingo.
This might be a LONG shot, but I'm hoping to connect with someone in or near Richmond, Virginia. I have a friend who's struggling, and it would be awesome if I could get her some information on services or social programs to help :^(
(I'm at a loss for what to tag this, but boosts or replies with info would be very much appreciated)
When I’m working, I lose track of time. It’s always suddenly evening. I get a lot done but the day feels far too short.
But today, deliberately taking most of the day off because I’ve worked a full time load already this week, it’s the opposite kind of surprise. “Oh! It’s only 2pm? I’ll take care of these things. Oh! It’s only 3.30pm? Hmm. I guess I’ll do those errands.” It feels so good. (The mild and sunny weather outside isn’t hurting either! ☀️😍)
Woooo a surprise evening storm with a HEAP of rain and lightning. *pours a wine and cracks out the fiddle*

Can you recommend any good Tech or Web Dev conferences in Europe this summer/autumn. Web dev (HTML/JS/CSS), .NET/C#, Industrie 4.0 / IIoT, and general software dev are all of interest.
Blimey, the Front End Developer Handbook 2018 is ridiculously detailed and helpful. Great work by Cody Lindley https://frontendmasters.com/books/front-end-handbook/2018/
Mozilla just put out an Internet Health Report with a whole section on decentralisation, as well as an article on centralised social media. The fediverse does not exist in it https://internethealthreport.org/2018/social-media-giants-facebook-tencent-google-reign/
Making is all about screwing up.
It's about having the confidence to screw up in increasingly creative ways.
It's the art of getting it wrong with such flair and panache that you can't help but be entertained by your own ineptitude.
It's the ability to foil so many of your own plans that you are left with no option but to stumble into a solution that works.
A solution, that when found, leaves you awestruck by what you have accomplished.
And it is in pursuit of that awe that the Maker makes.
I deeply appreciate anything that helps me complete boring adult obligations faster or automatically.
Good morning, friends!
The sun is out, I have coffee, my workload today is comfortable, and thanks to the magic of well-built software I've managed to complete my quarterly tax paperwork with 3 button clicks.
Yay! \o/

Oops! Almost a year absent from toot.cafe!
A major project built and launched in two time zones and two hemispheres, a shitty breakup, 100% abandonment of Twitter, an interstate move, my first trip to Germany, two serious family medical situations (all well now), a hand-built trebuchet, two foster cats, two new gardens, and a new laptop happened.
There, now you're up to speed.
So how have you all been? 😃
Woo! I've successfully winterproofed doors, vents, and my stupid old sash windows, including one which was only half moving (super fiddly). Hopefully that will make a big difference to managing temperatures inside. Australian homes are so poorly weather-proofed and insulated - especially old ones like mine!
Anyway, that was fun 😊👍
I mean, I know what they're for and all... but "Solar Power Owl" sounds pretty rad.
