Does Mastodon require the workers to be setup in order to get federation going?
Got S3 working! But yeah if you know anything about why I wouldn't be able to see posts from my an account on another instance, please let me know!
Okay hit two snags with setting up my own Mastodon instance:
1) afaict, posts from that instance don't appear on this instance. Neither in the timeline or when looking directly at a profile
2) How do I do S3??? The docs on this are light

Half an hour later it turns out the reason ElasticSearch was returning the same results no matter what params I passed in was that I was not in fact ever passing in any params.
I have started using async/await and I don't ever want to go back
