I’ve been waiting for Outlier Linguistics’ kanji dictionary for years now. I will back this, just as I backed their Chinese dictionary project:

Instances are a necessary part of federation, but it's a technical detail that most users really shouldn't have to care about. If we want decentralized systems to survive, we have to learn to make them as user-friendly as the centralized systems.

Hey fellow tooters, do you know any people around here interested in these topics? I’d love to chat about them, I don’t know who to follow!

- music composition
- electronic music, chiptune
- VJing, live digital performances
- indie video games
- demoscene
- hardware hack (softcore cpus, gpus…)
- programming language design
- operating system design
- drawing, painting
- crafts (woodworking, sewing…)

I probably forgot some of my interests there, but it’s a start!

Boost is appreciated. :3

There’s nothing quite as magical as using the app you built to do what you really wanted to do (besides write code). Code unlocks magic.

Thanks to @dasyatidprime’s pointer to tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2550 (section 3) the solution has already been described. Year 10K will be stringified as A10000. Year 100K as "B100000". And so on.

Problem solved. Moving on. Nothing more left to see.

Been making good progress a bunch of backend "devops"-style work, migrating from an old t1.micro instance running Ubuntu, onto a t2.nano running Amazon Linux. That is, boring work that I've been putting off for ages.

Trouble is, I used up most of my (unintentional but treated as) "funemployment" time this month doing this… instead of something more splashy like fixing node-nrf or getting my CNC carving things from node.js :-/

So: was I being "mature" and "responsible", or simply short-sighted?

Testing 123. Can't seem to post photos via Tusky but the Web UI works. Any ideas? toot.cafe/media/05e1Sj3D9J1E6x

AFAICT a moth just pooped on my laptop screen. (My office is an old wooden boat.)

This of course means writing a new blog engine, because _reasons_

Real story is I'll probably be moving on from CouchDB 😢 and my current blog [by current I mean extremely neglected for like two years] and a couple smaller bits are still using it in "production". So now I'm researching database alternatives, thinking about exploring some of my own storage ideas, etc. etc.

Long story short, maybe I shoulda worked on node-nrf, my other option for doing something productive today 😉

Started trying to add Let's Encrypt certificates to my sites today, ended up hosing my EC2 t1.micro instance [again] by release-updating an old Ubuntu. Now considering re-starting from scratch on a t2 instance…

Very belated thanks to @nolan for hooking me up here! Anyone else here interested in React/node.js/CouchDB/D3 sorts of tech, radio and SDR/DSP stuff, gardening, raising snails and crickets, wooden boats, etc. etc.?
