Mastodon tip: when you reply to a toot, by default it's set to "public but not on the timeline" (either local or federated). You can switch this back to "public and on the timeline," which is good for cases when you think the reply might be of general interest.
Wild BOT appeared! NITISH ran away! -insert scuttling noises- https://toot.cafe/media/z0HH-OSNcs-R2AjpNWk
Hi everyone. I'm a Guatemalan-American who likes reading, making music, sailing, cycling, and trying to help people be less terrible to each other on the internet. I'm a few days away from finishing my PhD at MIT on the topic. Back to writing!
Vivaldi Browser Panels + ๐บ.โ = <333 Who needs a dedicated client?
@nolan Uhhhh I may or may not have uploaded a 22MB GIF right now. Feel free to remove. >.> Sorry.
All these cats in the timeline....I miss being around cats.

Oh hey there's a hashtag for stuff like this. #MastoDev
I want to tinker with the Mastodon front-end/UI. Any pointers on settings up the dev environment? I'm assuming it's not as simple as fork > clone > npm i && npm start.
Let the games begin.
@nitish_dayal That is an excellent shirt. I sell this one in my store: http://ginnymcqueen.bigcartel.com/product/never-stop-punching-nazis https://mastodon.social/media/7RMLHcRX3sIB-wSGyaI

Watching DC's Legends of Tomorrow; the Waverider has some pretty sloppy welding joints for a time-traveling interdimensional spacecraft. Why I notice these things...I don't know. https://toot.cafe/media/fBjG4gkQiSxjjxGCRwo
Wasn't happy with the Mastodon clients available on iOS, so I added the toot.cafe page to my home screen. It's not perfect, but I also didn't have to install anything or log in through another system. Feels very PWA-y.

Dat CW flag tho. I don't really have a tendency to post obscene/triggering content, but I could 100% use that as a way to mimic Subject/Body style posts. Especially with a 500char limit...oh man I hope this platform sticks around at last long enough to let people explore and break it apart and put it back together a few times.
#introductions time.

Hi folks. My name is Nitish (knee-teesh, something like that, don't worry about it), Currently on contract as a front-end dev working w/ Angular, GraphQL, & the Apollo client, and I've got an interview with Amazon coming up soon so hopefully that goes well. Contributed to (some) OSS, but not nearly enough.
Have a React carousel component in the works that I plan to open source, among many other half-way finished projects. Because the world needs more ๐ .
