Before Pinafore: "OK, the major browsers are Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge"
After Pinafore: "OK, the major browsers are PaleMoon, WaterFox, Firefox ESR, Firefox in private browsing, Firefox with Privacy Badger…"
@nolan Since Debian and Firefox came to some sort of agreement (I think), I guess time for that is running out :)
@nolan GNU IceCat.
IS YOUR JAVASCRIPT PROPERLY LICENSED AND TAGGED WITH THE LICENSE SO PEOPLE RUNNING THE LibreJS addon CAN RUN IT??
IS IT NOLAN???,?
(I mean, also that unironically -- we honestly should be paying more attention to the freedom-or-not of JS scripts.)
@gaditb I shipped sourcemaps, so the unminified JS is all available. Good enough? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@nolan umm... no idea honestly? I think they have some ways of programmatically detecting it to decide whether to run it, but I don't know what those ways ARE actually...
@nolan Or Konqueror with KHTML or UCBrowser. We’re having fun at trivago with those. ;)
@nolan Is that people are using to load pinafore?
@loke Yes. :)
@nolan it works great in SeaMonkey fyi
@toilettrouble How about LakeWombat?
@nolan it works fine in LakeWombat but RiverPuppy is kinda buggy
@nolan
litterally every issue on my gh (excluding requests for adding blockchain)
@nolan Question from a tech-babby, and I'm presuming the answer is "no", but does adding different instances give access to our accounts/toots or is it more like a portal (recognizing that my use of portal might be not the best here)
@paeneultima I'm not sure what you mean, but I guess it's like a portal? Toggling instances toggles everything – your timelines, your account, etc.
@nolan welcome to frontend development!
@nolan What's Pinafore if you don't mind me asking?
@nolan Oh never mind, saw your pinned toot
@nolan
i use a chromium fork called bromite on my android phone, but i haven't had any problems using pinafore, tbf. thank you for your lovely web interface!
@nolan To be honest it’s so weird those Firefox derivatives seems so popular, despite not knowing any single person that has ever used them. What’s their user base?
@Alonealastalovedalongthe @nolan Didn’t know that, I wonder what's the rationale behind that choice.
@nolan Firefox, what else?
@nolan that's what you get for making a client for a FOSS community 😆
@nolan Good luck with managing CSS compatibility from the XX century
@nolan I take it that it is Firefox only?
@nolan I checked out the docs last night and learned about Svelte and Sapper for the first time (not a frontend dev). Pinafore seemed sweet and I'm gonna use it on my resource constrained server at home.
@nolan Well, firefox doesn't work at aall using #Pinafore. When I try to logg in I get "Error, is this a valid Mastodon instance?" This my have to do with the fact, that with screenreader I am only able to use older versions of #Firefox. I use Crome, #Pinafore and an open-source-screenreader called #NVDA. Everything works fine.
@balouqlc Unfortunately yes, Pinafore currently only supports the latest version of Firefox (59+). Some folks have reported issues with older versions of Firefox and with certain extensions and settings (Privacy Badger, "never remember history" setting, private browsing mode).
@nolan Having trouble in lynx v 0.0.3 to be honest. All I see is darkness. And tofu.
On a serious note, I've used Pinafore all day and thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you 😊
@nolan I'm surprised Vivaldi isn't there since it's my primary along with Waterfox.
@nolan mmmh palemoon, isn't it the browser that refuses to be ported to bsd or they are gonna sue because ya know. Don't use the name palemoon or their code even if you are a package maintainer... ?
I'm surprised no one has asked me about IceWeasel support yet, but I expect it's coming
