making the case for an #eveonline-themed instance over on birdsite.
for an investment of $12 for a domain plus 5/mo (to start) on masto.host I could start it my damn self, but i fear that my very-full family life would prevent me from truly committing.
@sivy I would be very interested if it used the eve SSO instead of a normal sign in. I know there is a ruby SSO package for it.
Would it be possible to have lists automatically generated for Corp and alliances? 🤔
@crazypedia good ideas, all
@sivy do you think you can help me find a dev that could fork the main mastodon client and start adding these features? I probably can't pay whatever the going rate for dev is but I can get 100$ together for some basic features.
There's a few ruby eve api projects out there already, how hard would it be to shoehorn those in and add some rules for Corp and alliance lists and general images? 🤔
@crazypedia those are all lovely ideas, but will be a lot of work. and the EVE integrations would need maintenance as the APIs change.
If it were me, I'd start with a domain and mastodon instance, and start using it and sharing about it elsewhere. Then let the integrations come as the community asks for them.
@crazypedia I guess I could see that, but it would be easier to get help by having the instance already set up so that prospective developers can experience it. I'm not a ruby developer myself, and have a RL that keeps me p busy or I'd have looked into it already. :)
@sivy you had mentioned how busy you are; I've not had to find a developer before, any idea how I would find or hire one for this type of project? If you know anyone that might be interested pass them my name 😁
@crazypedia You could check out #devfleet on the Tweetfleet Slack
@sivy I was thinking that the SSO integration would be a critical feature to encourage capsulers to use the service, otherwise it's just another forum account to sign up for and maintain 🤷♂️
