Funny how many toots flooding in Japanese instances. It's about 10 toots/sec while here's about 0.1 toots/sec. Crazy.
@lindner I'm optimistic as it's one of the point doing federation. I'd like to see more different kinds of these not only Twitter clones.
@agektmr @chrismessina my concern is that the public the UI does a poor job of filtering the public timelines and searches for relevancy. Federation should help make this less of a problem. Also you have people maintaining separate accounts for separate audiences which helps...
@agektmr This is very interesting. Do you have any guesses as to why the enthusiasm for Mastodon seems to be so particularly strong there?
@Tezcatlipoca This is just my opinion: Mastodon kind of raised awareness from people who likes underground/subculture on internet. NSFW contents invited even more people. Also tech savvies brought interesting contributions to the ecosystem which made more buzz. There are tons of articles and products being developed around Mastodon now.
I don't think this will converge anytime soon.
@Tezcatlipoca pawoo.net just surpassed number of users anywhere else. It's ran by major illustration sharing service. I think it contributed huge.
@agektmr Same crowd as the famous 2channel? Maybe this is good news for Mastodon's future, similar to how it's said that availability of pornography in a media drives which video technologies are adopted.
@Tezcatlipoca Yeah, exactly. Couldn't guess you knew about 2ch. People love anonymous communication here. Though they get really nasty.
@agektmr Here too. I wonder if this is the case everywhere. Anonymous or semi-anonymous communications bring freedom and conversations and content that you would never see otherwise. But sometimes it would have been better if you hadn't seen them. I don't know if there will ever be a way to change that balance. I guess we will always have to take the good with the bad
@agektmr I hope that Mastodon does not emulate the rise of Orkut which took a quick turn towards Brazil.
